It was a big surprise for everyone that the match got paused and set to be played again in two weeks.
Slytherins were unhappy... wait, no, unhappy is an understatement, they were furious.
"What? You made up that your broom was being jinxed becuase we were winning, Potter?" Malfoy tried to mock and make fun of Harry.
"Why would I even lie about something like this?" Harry questioned and continued walking, not even looking at him.
Luckily for Harry the next class is Transfiguration, and Gryffindor first years don't have it with Slytherin.
"Harry, I and Hermione think that Snape was jinxing your broom during that match." Ron whispered to Harry while they were on their way to their last period of the day.
Hermione nodded.
"Nah, it wasn't him" Harry unintentionally said out loud.
"What?"
"Who was it then?" Hermione questioned, only at that Harry realized what he had just said.
"Um..." Harry immediately looked away.
"You know who it was!" Hermione realized with a surprise.
That surprised Ron too, "you know who was jinxing your broom?"
Harry sighed, knowing that it's too late to cover it up now.
"Yea, of course I do,"
"If it wasn't Snape then who was it?" Ron asked, confused.
"I literally saw that Snape was muttering something and constantly staring at you!" Hermione said, urgently.
Well, they weren't actually talking, more like whispering...
"So he really was doing the counter-curse this time too!" Harry unintentionally whispered in relief.
"Wait..." Ron began.
"So, he was actually trying to save you???" Hermione is absolutely lost now.
"Who was it then?" Ron finally asked.
"Quirrell, it was Quirrell." Harry answered.
"How do you even know that...?" Hermione asked, very suspicious now.
Harry thought about how to answer for a good minute; yes, he does want to tell his best friends the truth, but he is very unsure about it...
"Look, I'll tell you two in the Common Room or somewhere where it would be just the three of us, okay?" Harry said after the long thoughtful moment.
Their last period was Defense Against The Dark Arts with Quirrell.
Harry was still actively trying not to stare at him with hate, seeing as he knows that Voldemort is on the back of his proffesor's head.
Throughout the lesson he had to gently and secretly stop Ron from actually trying to confront Quirrell about the jinxing incident.
"Ron, stop," Harry whispered to him with urgency and caution.
"Why? You said that he just tried to kill you!" Ron whispered back, constantly checking if no one (other then Hermione) can hear them.
"Trust me, just stop."
"You sometimes don't make any sense, Harry." Ron stated, "Are you scared of him?"
"What do you mean?" Harry was caught off gaurd by that question, "why would I be scared of him?"
"Well," Hermione joined in, trying to be helpful, "he did try to kill you two days ago..."
"Okay, okay... just as I said, I'll tell you everything when we'll be somewhere where we'll have privacy." Harry said, semi-giving up.
At that, Hermione and Ron just continued to stare at Harry, both with worry and confusion.
After the last period has ended and the trio finally entered the Gryffindor's Common Room, they sat in the corner, pretty far away from the other people, but not too far away to be suspicious.
"Soo... how did you know it was Quirrell?" Ron questioned.
"Well, it's going to sound crazy, but promise me you won't tell anyone, okay?" Harry asked seriously, looking around if no one is close enough to hear them.
"We promise." Both of his best friends said at the exact same time, looking like they genuinely won't tell anyone.
"Okay... so," Harry began, "the reason how I know that it was actually Quirrell who tried to kill me is becuase this happened to me before..."
"What?" Ron and Hermione were surprised but immediately quieted down, continuing to listen carefully.
"By 'happened to me before', I mean that it literally did happen to me before, but not the way you think.... I somehow time traveled into the past..." Harry explained.
"How did you do it?" Hermione asked, genuinely curious.
"I have no idea..." Harry said, sounding just as lost as Ron looked.
"Promise you won't tell anyone?"
"Of course, Harry!"
"Thanks...."
It was tommorow, to be exact it was Saturday morning.
Everyone was eating breakfast when the day's hundreds of owls flew into the Great Hall.
Ron got a letter from his parents, mostly about them wondering how he's doing, the news from home and that they hope he wasn't doing anything wrong.
Even Harry got a letter... well, more of a note; from Hagrid:
"Harry,
Been a fair while since we had a proper talk, hasn’t it? Saw that match yesterday and it got me thinkin’ of you somethin’ fierce. Made me wonder if you’d fancy comin’ by for a visit sometime soon. And don’t you go leavin’ Ron an’ Hermione behind either, I’d be glad of seein’ all three of you.
Send word back with an owl when you can.
Hagrid"
Why is he so surprised that Hagrid wants to see him? It's not that surprising, seeing as there was an attempt to kill him infront of the whole school on his first Quidditch match after coming back after all.
"What is it, Harry?" Hermione asked.
"Oh, nothing, Hagrid just wants us to visit him." Harry answered, genuinely not knowing why he reacted the way he did.
"Do you think we should be worried?"
"I doubt that, Hagrid didn't sound worried or concerned in the letter." Harry shrugged.
After they finished eating breakfast the trio walked out of the Great Hall and towards Hagrid's Hut.
"How did you even manage to go back in time?" Ron asked Harry in absolute awe.
"Just as I told you already, I have no idea." Harry sighed, he knows that his best friends want to know what happened that caused the timetravel, but he doesn't want to talk about it... it's just... too much.
Just as he saw that they were infront of the front door to Hagrid's Hut he gave them a look, 'don't talk about my timetravel infront of Hagrid, please,'.
Harry then knocked on the door and only moments later, Hagrid opened it for them.
"Ah, there yeh are! Come in, come in!" Hagrid welcomed them with a kind smile.
"Harry, I was right worried 'bout yeh durin' the match! Yeh could've died!"
The conversation was about his Quidditch match, just as Harry expected.
"I know, but that doesn't matter now, I'm still alive!" Harry said, thinking that there is no reason for Hagrid to be so worried about him.
"Doesn't matter?!" Hagrid asked in bewilderment.
Ron and Hermione also don't seem to understand just why Harry isn't worried.
"Yeh were almost, bloody, killed! Someone was jinxin' yer broom!"
Harry is trying to act like a kid, he really is, but it's almost impossible.
"Okay?"
The topic had to, inevitably, get changed, seeing as Harry just didn't care about the near-death experience during his match.
So, of course, they ended up talking about how their studies are doing, and how Ron's brother, Charlie is doing.
"I miss Fluffy..." Hagrid unintentionally said when he was talking about his previous pets.
"Fluffy?" Ron and Hermione asked, curious.
"Who's Fluffy?" Hermione added.
"I shouldn't've said that, I really shouldn't've said that..." Hagrid immediately got back to his classic 'I said too much'.
Ten minutes have passed since Hagrid unintentionally spilled out a little about Fluffy, and now, the trio is walking back to the castle.
"You weren't surprised when Hagrid mentioned Fluffy." Hermione stated.
"And you're surprised I wasn't surprised?" Harry asked; god, the constant exhaustion from not being able to get enough sleep is annoying, annoying but easily manageable.
"What do you mean?"
"I already told you; I somehow timetraveled, of course I've seen and dealt with that bloody three-headed dog." Harry explained, trying his best not to sound rude.
"What happened that you had to deal with it?"
"By 'you', you mean 'us', right?"
"Us?? We helped you?"
"Of course you did!" Harry said, sighing and calmed down, not understanding why he's so irritated lately, "Honestly, if we hadn't had eachother, especially you Hermione, we could've died so many times."
Hermione blushed at the compliment.
At that their friendship strengthened.
