Chapter 17

Unlike the first time, Harry and Hermione (this time around with Ron) didn't get caught  transporting the Norberta, the dragon, from Hogwarts to Charlie's friends.

It was pretty much pure luck for the trio that they didn't get caught (thank god Harry remembered the Invisibility Cloak).

Because they didn't get caught Gryffindor didn't lose 150 points overnight and thus is still on top of the Year House Cup.

But just because they didn't get caught doesn't automatically mean that they have it easy.

That's simply because there are a lot of tests coming from all of the subjects.

Harry never liked studying, but atleast he gets to have a little break from Ron and Hermione constantly asking him about the future.

Harry kept overhearing Quirrell much more times then he'd like.

One time the trio walked out of the library at the evening, they overheard someone talking from inside a classroom.

So Ron and Hermione immediately came closer to the door, Harry doing the same, deciding it wouldn't do any damage to eavesdrop a little.

"...D-don't start with it a-again, please..." it's Quirrell, he sounds like he's trying not to cry.

Hermione and Ron looked absolutely curious, wondering with just who would he be arguing with.

"A-alright - alright..." Quirrell whimpered.

And then suddenly, the said proffesor ran out of the classroom, with his turban being wrong.

Hermione and Ron then looked inside the classroom out of curiosity.

"There's no one inside..." Ron is completely confused now.

"Then who was Quirrell talking with?"

Harry's two best friends immediately looked at him, non-verbally asking for an answer.

"Aw, come on!" Harry sighed, "I've already told you that Voldemort's on the back of his head, so Quirrell was obviously talking with him."

Ron looked like he wanted to tell Harry to stop calling Voldemort by his name.

"What could have they been talking about?" Hermione questioned.

"Don't know, don't care." Harry answered and shrugged, already walking away.

Hermione and Ron immediately began to follow him.

Not long after Quirrell ran out of the empty classroom, Harry's best friends began asking him about how to safe the Philosopher's Stone, once they've sat down in the Gryffindor Common Room.

Harry didn't exactly have the energy to explain everything, just summarized everything as best as he could.

"Soo..." Hermione began, when Harry was done with the explanation, "first is Fluffy, then the Devil's Snare, then flying keys where we have to find the correct one so we could unlock the door, then huge Wizard's Chess, then elixirs of some sorts, and then some kind of mirror?"

"Not just any mirror, the Mirror of Erised," Harry corrected her.

"I've heard of it..." Ron said, "what does it do exactly?"

"It shows someone's deepest desires pretty much."

"Wow..." Ron is absolutely amused, "and what do you see in it?"

"My whole family," Harry answered simply, remembering all the nights he's sat infront of it in his first year in his original life.

"But... aren't they all..." Hermione began but couldn't finish.

"...Dead." He finished for her, "Yes, I know," Harry said, he doesn't like it when someone, especially his best friends, pity him, "I never said it shows reality." Harry said, sounding like he doesn't want to talk about it anymore, but also doesn't want to sound rude.

"..." Hermione and Ron just stayed quiet, looking from eachother to Harry and back.

On another day, when the trio was discussing the Philosopher's Stone, again, Hermione seemed to have enough.

"Okay, this all could be prevented if you just tell Dumbledore!" She was mostly addressing Harry.

Harry stopped dead in his tracks at that.

"What?" He almost whispered out of surprise disbelief.

"Hermione's right, you know..." Ron tried but Harry stopped him.

"And how do you think I should do that?" Harry questioned, not knowing why he's getting frustrated a little, "you think I could just go and tell him, 'hey proffesor Dumbledore, I know for sure that Quirrell is trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone - oh, and, he also has a literal Voldemort on the back of his head!' Oh that would go just brilliantly!"

"..." Hermione and Ron shut up at that.

"Look, I didn't mean to snap, I - just - look - I don't want to make stuff more unpredictable then needed..." Harry tried to explain.

When the tests came, some of them seemed surprisingly easy.

But Harry quickly found out that it's just his case, and he knows exactly why that is; he's been through all of this already after all.

The easiest for him was - naturally -  the Defense Against the Dark Arts. Thinking about it, he probably shouldn't be so surprised, seeing as he's got an 'O' from this subject when he had his O.W.L.s in his fifth year while actively having Occlumency lessons with Snape and with Voldemort constantly in his mind.

Other subjects were pretty alright too. But the hardest was the History of Magic and Potions.

When it comes to History of Magic; Harry was never exactly the one to remember numbers and other stuff like that; and, plus, History of Magic is the most useless subject taught at Hogwarts for him.

But on the other hand, with the Potions; the case why it's not exactly easy is pretty much only because of Snape.

Herbology, Transfiguration, Charms and Flying exams  were pretty alright too.

Overall, the tests have gone well; and thanks to Harry, Ron also did better then in the original timeline.

Oh, and Hermione also did better thanks to Harry in Defense Against the Dark Arts tests.

After the tests, Ron and Hermione didn't leave him alone about the Philosopher's Stone.

"We probably shouldn't worry too much, as long as Dumbledore's at Hogwarts Voldemort won't try to kill Harry." Hermione tried to comfort both Harry and Ron while also herself.

"Oh, sure, as if Voldemort didn't try to kill me even when Dumbledore was there." Harry unintentionally mumbled.

"He really tried to kill you in your original life even when you were studying at Hogwarts?" Ron asked, pale.

"Mhm," Harry nodded.

"H-how many times?" Hermione sounded like she was afraid about just asking it.

"Way too many times." Harry simply answered, trying to stop himself from remembering all the duels, fights, and his own death.

Ron and Hermione just stared, without any words, none of the trio said anything; his best friends pale, Harry just silent.
